Hair-can?

Saturday I finally decided, hesitantly,  to take a chance and cut some baby hair. I found a great how-to article in Parenting magazine. It was a huge help!

Holly's hair is thin and straight. The top layer of baby-fine hair was outgrowing the bottom, thicker hair. It looked awful. Not wanting to overdo it I started with the back bottom layer and just trimmed a little. Then I let down the next layer and took off about a half-inch. One more layer and the back and sides were evened. Holly was very patient and had fun sitting in the high chair watching in the mirror. This morning she kept pointing to her hair saying, "Mama, so pretty!"  I love that it looks so cute even without having to "fix" it. The doctor even commented how cute it turned out. Yea!!
No more yucky fly-aways in her face.
Here you can see the back. It's like a cute bob when it's dry.
On to the next challenge...

I have been hesitant about cutting Will's hair. It was just so soft and had these little curls in the back. I decided to let it grow until I could cut a curl for his baby book (which I have done for all the babies).  The Parenting article showed how to do a scissor cut, but that was not practical. Will moved around way to much, trying to look at the scissors and comb. I reluctantly decided to use the electric clippers, on the longest setting, mind you. It took a while because his soft hair wouldn't cooperate with the clipper guides (correct terminology?). He did come out looking very handsome, but his hair is now so course. Curse you buzz cuts!! Oh, well...at least he will no longer be mistaken for a girl. (Seriously...)

Our handsome little military man!
